Brabham Ralt Honda: The Ron Tauranac Story

Ron Tauranac – British born, but brought up in Australia – always preferred to let his cars sing his praises where it really mattered – on the race tracks of the world. They have never been known as Tauranacs, but the names Brabham and Ralt will be very familiar to anyone who has followed motor racing since the sixties. And so, of course, is Honda, the company which supplied the engines for some of Tauranac’s most successful Brabham and Ralt racing cars and with which he still retains close links as a design consultant, working behind the scenes on several of their motor racing activities.

The author Dr. Mike Lawrence taught English in schools until he reached forty when he became a freelance writer. He has since written more than forty books on cars and motor racing. For amusement, he undertook a PhD in Shakespeare at the University of Sussex because he was appalled at the low standard of literary scholarship compared with the best that motor racing writers can provide. Mike has also won prestigious awards for writing plays and poetry.

History In The Making

Sir Jack Brabham AO, OBE, winning the French Grand Prix at Reims on the 3rd July 1966, in his F1 Repco Brabham BT19. This victory was the first GP win by a driver in a car of his own construction, and the first by an Australian-built engine. The race also set the record for the fastest GP win in history, average speed of 136.8mph. Together with Chief Designer Ron Tauranac AO, Jack went on to win the F1 Drivers Championship that year, and the Constructors Championship in 1966 and 1967.

Each print is from a limited edition of 750, published on premium 300 gram stock, and hand signed by Sir Jack Brabham, Ron Tauranac and the artist on the lower margin.
